Join EXPO CHICAGO at the Chicago Athletic Association for a conversation with 2025 guest curators Jessica Hong (Chief Curator, Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art) and Rosario Güiraldes (Curator of Visual Arts, Walker Arts Center in Minneapolis) moderated by Bana Kattan (Curator and Associate Head of Exhibitions at Guggenheim Abu Dhabi).
The conversation offers a preview of the themes and intentions for the curated programs at the upcoming exposition this April 24-27, 2025, as well as reflections on the speakers’ recent curatorial projects.
This year, the curated programs reflect on global perspectives in the Midwest region, especially in relation to collaborative art practices, emerging artists, and collecting contemporary art.
Curated by Jessica Hong, IN/SITU is a program of EXPO CHICAGO dedicated to large-scale sculpture, video, film, and site-specific works throughout Festival Hall. Activating interstitial areas throughout the historic Navy Pier and beyond, Hong’s selected artists will expand upon IN/SITU’s legacy of fostering ambitious projects that typically aren't possible within the context of a fair.
Curated by Rosario Güiraldes, EXPOSURE is a section of the fair which highlights solo and two-artist presentations from galleries 10 years and younger. This year’s presentation will focus on heralding emerging artists and exhibition programs.
